Children with special educational needs find it harder to learn than most children of the same age. These children may require special help with a range of needs including thinking and understanding, physical or sensory difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties with speech and language, or how they relate to and behave with other people.
Ms Jane Cocliff our Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo works alongside your child's Class Teacher and Learning Assistant in supporting their learning and progress. This support could be provided in a number of different ways; working in groups in the classroom, small group withdrawal work and 1:1 work either in the classroom or in the Excel Room.
Kingsway Primary School meets all the requirements of the Disability and Discrimination Act 2010. There is a designated area called the 'EXceL room' where interventions and support take place.
In order to meet the needs of your child we may, with your full consent, ask other services and professionals for their support. These services may include the Educational Psychologist, the Behaviour Advisory Teacher, a Speech and Language Therapist and the Sensory and Physical Teaching Service (SAPTS).
Your views, and the wishes of your child are very important to us. Please feel encouraged to call in and speak to either your child's Class Teacher or Ms Cocliff if you have any concerns regarding your child's learning.
