Kingsway Primary School

Theme - Wider Curriculum

At Kingsway we aim to deliver a wide range of experiences that allow children to extend their understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. We aim to develop the children's skills, knowledge and understanding in all areas of the curriculum to prepare them for life in the 21st century. We strongly believe that effective learning takes place when there is considerable emphasis on active involvement, opportunities to talk both imaginatively, expressively and to explain and clarify thinking. Therefore, in order to develop well-rounded, happy individuals, we deliver a project-based, thematic approach using the Cornerstones Scheme of work: this is cross-curricular and provides our pupils with a diet of rich and memorable learning experiences.

Each learning project offers children the opportunity to:

Engage: First hand, inspiring learning experiences where children are given the opportunity to investigate and use their senses.

Develop: Develop and research skills, knowledge and understanding.

Innovate: Apply skills, knowledge and understanding independently and collaboratively to a creative and inspirational challenge.

Express: Perform, share, evaluate and celebrate learning.
